NATO is ready to expand consulting and expert assistance to the Armenian Defense Ministry

 

Armenian Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan received the delegation headed by NATO Deputy Secretary General for Defense Policy and Planning, Ambassador Hussein Dirioz today.

The visit of the delegation was linked to the visit of joint group of NATO structures to Armenia. The group and the Armenian Defense Ministry are currently assessing the progress in the implementation of the Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP) and Planning and Review Process (PARP).

Seyran Ohanyan and Hussein Dirioz discussed the main areas of cooperation of the Defense Ministry with the NATO - military education, development of professional institute of junior commanders, improvement of joint opportunities, reforms in the defense planning and budgeting spheres as well as participation of the Armenian peacekeepers in the NATO actions.

The sides registered progress of the Armenian Defense Ministry in defense reforms and main areas of military cooperation. The priority areas of cooperation with the North Atlantic Alliance for coming years were also outlined.

Hussein Dirioz expressed the readiness of NATO for further expansion of consulting and expert assistance to Armenia.
