22% of polled Armenian residents associate NATO with country’s protection

22% of polled Armenian residents associate NATO with the country’s protection and 20% consider the Alliance to be a threat.

Mediamax reports that the data of the survey, carried out by Gallup in April-August, 2009, in a number of post-Soviet Union countries, evidence this.

32% of the polled residents of Armenia stated that they do not associate NATO either with protection or with a threat to the country’s security. 26% of the polled found it difficult to answer this question.

56% of the polled residents of Georgia associate NATO with the country’s protection and 10% consider the Alliance to be a threat.

38% of the polled residents of Azerbaijan associate NATO with the country’s protection and 9% consider the Alliance to be a threat.
