Armenian peacekeepers will stay in Afghanistan

 

There is no need to increase the number of Armenian peacekeepers, participating in Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan.


This was stated today by Levon Ayvazyan, Head of Defense Policy Department of Armenian Defense Ministry, in a news conference at Information Centre on NATO in Yerevan.


Currently Armenia is represented in Afghanistan by 121-person contingent.


Armenia deploys more peacekeepers to Afghanistan than some NATO membersAnswering to the question on how long the Armenian peacekeepers will stay in Afghanistan, Levon Ayvazyan said:
“We have stated on many occasions that we will stay in Afghanistan as long as it is necessary”.


He also noted that the Armenian peacekeeping brigade consistently improves its interoperability with NATO forces.
